Fante joins Sports Commission staff
Louisville, Ky. -- Greg Fante, a veteran in the Louisville sports scene, joins the Greater Louisville Sports Commission Dec. 1 as the Director of New Business Development.
In his new role Fante will oversee the bid process for all events. He will help develop sports advisory committees for local sports with the goal of helping lure their regional and national events to Louisville.
He will also assist with event management for all GLSC events and conduct a comprehensive sports assessment and market study to determine which sports Louisville should target and bid for in conjunction
with each advisory committee, local partners, and existing and new facilities partners.

With an annual budget of just about $500,000, the Greater Louisville Sports Commission has been forced to do a lot with a little since its formation in 1999.
Putting heads in beds is the mission of the organization. It does that by attracting athletic events that fill hotel rooms with guests who also dine at local restaurants, shop at area retailers and visit the city's attractions.

Official 2008 Ryder Cup License Plate
LOUISVILLE -- The 37th Ryder Cup will be played at Valhalla Golf Club, September 16-21, 2008. To celebrate the event, The Commonwealth of Kentucky is working to create an official "2008 Ryder Cup License Plate." In order for these plates to be produced, a minimum of 900 interested individuals are required to complete an application and submit payment to the Kentucky Sports Authority by September 30, 2007.
