In order to fulfill our mission, the ultimate function of the Louisville Sports Commission is twofold:
- To establish on-going relationships with National Governing Bodies of sports, event rights holders, sports groups and local sports entities in order to market Louisville as a desirable destination to attract and hold first class major sporting events.
- To ensure that appropriate marketing, organizational, administrative, and volunteer support systems are in place to enhance the ultimate success of these sporting events.

Become a nationally recognized "player" and leader in the industry of hosting top quality sports activities that create a substantial positive impact on the local community.
- Fund Raising
Establish long-term financial stability for the Louisville sports commission and adequate levels of sponsorship to support Louisville Sports Commission sponsored / supported activities and events.
- Developing Brand Image / Reputation for Excellence
Develop a brand image/ reputation for Louisville as a premier destination that will provide a first-class, top-notch experience for sports groups, events, conventions, etc.
- Collection, Storage and Reporting of Information
Become a central clearinghouse for all information concerning sports facilities and athletic venues, local sports groups, organizations and leaders, sports events and schedules, leagues, camps and instructional opportunities in the Louisville area.
- Local / Community Awareness and Benefit
Establish name recognition and a clear-cut identity. Gain understanding and appreciation for the goals, mission and value of the Louisville Sports Commission and its impact on the community throughout Louisville, Southern Indiana and the state of Kentucky.
