Galt House Hotel Official Hotel of Urban Bourbon Half Marathon
Louisville, Ky. – July 9, 2014 – The Louisville Sports Commission today announced that the Galt House Hotel has been named the official headquarters hotel for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon.
“Our Urban Bourbon Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Galt House Hotel’s front door,” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “So, it made perfect sense to partner with the Galt House and allow our out-of-town runners to experience some of Louisville’s gracious hospitality and Southern style.”
“We have partnered with the Louisville Sports Commission in the past on other events and are thrilled to be part of their Urban Bourbon Half Marathon. With our Down One Bourbon Bar and Jockey’s Silk Bourbon Bar, it was a perfect match,” said Lisa Haller, executive director of sales for the Galt House Hotel. “We hope the special rates we are able to offer will also encourage local runners to join us and finish off their race experience with a relaxing evening downtown.”
The Galt House Hotel is offering a special rate of $129 in the Rivue Tower, or $139 in the Suite Tower on both Friday and Saturday night. To receive the special rate, runners can call 1-800-The-Galt (843-4258) and ask for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon discount.
The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon celebrates and promotes 200 years of Louisville and Kentucky distilling history, combined with a half marathon route that showcases one of Louisville’s most scenic parks and provides a distinct downtown running experience.
The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon is the final race in the Louisville Sports Commissions Fall Runathon. Runners must be 21 or older by October 25, 2014, to participate. The Fall Runathon kicks off with two family-friendly races that offer Louisville-centric routes. The fourth annual Louisville pure tap® 5k will be held September 6 at the historic Louisville Water Tower. The Norton Sports Health Great Pumpkin 10k returns for its second year on October 4 at the Parklands at Floyds Fork.
