Registration Open for Louisville Sports Commission’s Three Fall Running Races

Louisville Pure Tap® 5K Leads Off the Series on Sept. 10

Louisville, Ky. – Aug. 10, 2022 – Registration is open for the Louisville Sports Commission’s (LSC) three popular fall running races, starting with the Louisville Pure Tap® 5K on Sept. 10, the Norton Sports Health 8K on Oct. 1 and the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon on Oct. 8. The three races provide unique courses and quality experiences for runners and walkers, while promoting active lifestyles for people of all ages and fitness levels.

• Oct. 1: Norton Sports Health 8K at the Parklands of Floyds Fork
• Oct. 8: UBHM starts and finishes in downtown Louisville

“With a break in the heat, now if the perfect time to start training for a 5K and 8K and to ramp up training for a half marathon,” said Karl F. Schmitt Jr., president and CEO of the Louisville Sports Commission. “Our fall races provide excellent experiences that compliment the Triple Crown and Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon that take place in the spring.”

The Louisville Pure Tap® 5K returns on Sept. 10 at the historic Louisville Water Tower Park. The race begins and ends at the home of Louisville’s drinking water, Louisville Water Tower Park, following a flat course that runs east and west on River Road. Registration is $25, and will increase to $30 on Aug. 22. Participants are asked to bring their old shoes for WaterStep; proceeds from which will help others enjoy high-quality drinking water. The Norton Sports Health 8K will be held on Oct. 1 at the Parklands of Floyds Fork. The race offers a scenic course that showcases native plants and wildlife. Registration is $35, and will increase to $40 on Aug. 22. Runners are encouraged to bring a new child’s Halloween costume as a donation for Family Scholar House residents. Returning this year on Oct. 8, the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon (UBHM) pays tribute to the Commonwealth’s signature industry while wrapping Kentucky bourbon, food and entertainment around a world-class half marathon. The 13.1-mile course pours through the settings that make Louisville unique and showcases 200 years of bourbon heritage and culture. The course includes a two-state half marathon route that celebrates Louisville’s river heritage and provides a distinct downtown running experience.

Registration for the half marathon is currently $85 and increases on Aug. 22 to $95. Registration price includes admission to the Urban Bourbon Bash at Fourth Street Live! featuring bourbon tastings, beer, burgoo, a three-hour concert by Louisville Crashers and more. The Urban Bourbon Bash was named one of the best after-parties in the country by Runner’s World.
