Winners announced for Louisville Pure Tap® 5K
Louisville, Ky. – Sept. 9, 2023 – With more than 300 registered participants, the annual Louisville Pure Tap® 5K went off this morning under cool, partly cloudy conditions at race start. Race participants followed a course that took them through Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Shawnee and Chickasaw Parks.
Kyle Bowling of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 16:51.02, ahead of second-place finisher Ethan Ennis, who clocked a time of 18:16.35. Megan Cole of Versailles, Ind., won the women’s division in 19:17.49, beating Maria Galvin of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 19:50.25. Sarah Brian won the non-binary division.

MEN’S DIVISION
- First Place: Kyle Bowling of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 16:51.02
- Second Place: Ethan Ennis with a time of 18:16.35
- Third Place: Larremy Gray of Cincinnati, Ohio, with a time of 18:39.97
WOMEN’S DIVISION
- First Place: Megan Cole of Versailles, Ind., with a time of 19:17.49
- Second Place: Maria Galvin of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 19:50.25
- Third Place: Kat Percy of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 19:59.84

New this year, race participants were invited to bring their dogs to join them. Proceeds from all dog registrations were donated to Friends of Metro Animal Services. Lucy, a Labradoodle, was the first dog to cross the finish line and received a gift basket courtesy of Feeders Supply.

The Louisville Pure Tap® 5k is the first race of the Louisville Sports Commission’s series of three fall running races that provide unique courses and quality experiences for runners and walkers. Following the Louisville Pure Tap® 5k is the Norton Sports Health 4-Miler, set to take place on Oct. 2 at Iroquois Park with a course that includes a preview of the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular. The series concludes with the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon on Oct. 14.
