Louisville, KY – Monday, October 20, 2014 – A pair of running backs who were also workhorses on special teams and a quarterback who passed, ran and caught while leading his team to a signature conference win were named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll following week eight of the college football season. Running back Marcus Murphy of Missouri earned the Honor Roll for the second time while Purdue back Raheem Mostert and Pitt QB Chad Voytik earned the honor for the first time this season.

The announcement was made by the Louisville Sports Commission, owners and operators of the Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse The Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football. The winner and his family will be honored on January 27, 2015 at a banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health at the Galt House Hotel and Suites in downtown Louisville.

Eagles’ CB Brandon Boykin Faces Giants’ WR Odell Beckham Sunday Night in Philly
Louisville, KY – Friday, October 10, 2014 – Two former Paul Hornung Award winners – Philadelphia Eagles slot corner Brandon Boykin and New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. – square off Sunday night in Philadelphia in a huge NFL – NFC East Division contest. Third-year NFL player Boykin is a key member of the Eagles’ nickle and dime package defense, matching up inside against opponents’ slot receivers. Beckham, a rookie, saw his first action in the NFL last week following a pre-season hamstring injury. He caught four passes for 44 yards and the game-winning TD in the Giants’ win over Atlanta.

Louisville, KY – Wednesday, October 8, 2014 – Utah State linebacker Nick Vigil was added to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll in week six for his stellar, two-way performance in the Aggie’s 35-20 upset victory over BYU Friday night in Provo. The 6-3, 230 lb. Vigil, a season-long starter at linebacker, saw his first duty at running back and was the Aggie’s leading rusher with 16 carries for 57 yards and a TD. In one sequence, he carried the ball on three consecutive plays from the 17-yard line to the six, picking up a first down and setting up a TD. Vigil scored what proved to be the game-winning TD on a one-yard plunge in the third quarter. He logged an astounding 108 snaps while playing both ways in all four quarters and led Utah’s defense with nine tackles.

Louisville, KY – Monday, October 6, 2014 – B.J. Catalon from TCU, Todd Gurley from Georgia and Dak Prescott from Mississippi State earned the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll in week six by leading their teams to conference wins, top 15 rankings and contention in their respective conference standings.
