Winners Announced for 2024 Urban Bourbon Half Marathon

 

Louisville, Ky. – Oct. 12, 2024 – With nearly 2,400 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon went off this morning under cool, clear skies at race start.

Ali Faraji-Tajrishi of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 1:14.09, edging second-place finisher Andrew Precise of Birmingham, Ala., who clocked a time of 1:16.51.

Louisville, Ky. – Oct. 2, 2024 – The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) will host 100 colleges and universities from 21 states at the 23rd Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Sat., Oct. 5, 2024, at E. P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park (Sawyer). The Live in Lou Classic will attract 2,100 athletes representing many of the top college cross country programs in the nation.

Winners Announced for the Norton Sports Health 4-Miler

Louisville, Ky. – Oct. 1, 2024 – With nearly 750 registered participants, the Norton Sports Health 4-Miler went off Monday evening under cloudy conditions. The race was held in Iroquois Park with a course that took race participants through the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular trail after crossing the finish line.

Thomas Gaines of Sellersburg, Ind., won the men’s division in a time of 22:41.63, ahead of second-place finisher Seth Snyder-Hayes of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time 23:56.84. Tavi Walace of Louisville, Ky., won the women’s division in 25:14.30 beating Meghan Brennan of New Albany, Ind., who finished in 26:21.60. Brandon Finch of Brandenburg, Ky., won the non-binary division with a time of 28:09.12.

Winners Announced for the Louisville Pure Tap® 5k

Louisville, Ky. – Sept. 7, 2024 – With more than 750 registered participants, the sold-out Louisville Pure Tap® 5K went off this morning under cool, sunny conditions at race start. Race participants started and finished at Louisville Water Tower, home of Louisville’s award-winning drinking water, and followed a course that ran east and west on River Road.

David Greishaber of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 15:48, ahead of second-place finisher Ali-Faraji Tajrish of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time of 16.10. Maria Galvin of Louisville, Ky., won the women’s division in 18:39, beating Tavi Wallace of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 19:15. Brandon Finch of Brandenburg, Ky., won the non-binary division in 20:24.

The top finishers in the 2024 Louisville Pure Tap® 5K:

MEN’S DIVISION

• First Place: David Greishaber of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 15:48
• Second Place: Ali-Faraji Tajrish of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 16.10
• Third Place: Seth Snider-Hayes of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 17:40

WOMEN’S DIVISION

• First Place: Maria Galvin of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 18:39
• Second Place: Tavi Wallace of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 19:15
• Third Place: Liliana Martinez of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 20.21

Race participants were invited to bring their dogs to join them. Proceeds from all dog registrations were donated to Friends of Metro Animal Services.

The Louisville Pure Tap® 5k is the first race of the inaugural Planet Fitness Mayorthon, a series of four fall running races that provides unique courses and quality experiences for runners and walkers. Following the Louisville Pure Tap® 5k is the Bourbon & Beyond 5K, set to take place on Sept. 21 at the Kentucky Expo Center; the Norton Sports Health 4-Miler on Sept. 30 at Iroquois Park; and Race the Runway 5.02K on Nov. 16 at Bowman Field.

48 Players Named to the 15th Annual Paul Hornung Award Watch List

Presented by Texas Roadhouse, Award Given to Nation’s Most Versatile Player

Louisville, Ky. – Aug. 1, 2024 – Forty-eight players representing ­­­­nine conferences plus one independent school that compete for the Football Bowl Series have been selected for the 2024 Paul Hornung Award Pre-Season Watch List.

Now in its 15th season, the Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner in Louisville, Ky., in March 2025.
