Derby City Cup Cyclocross returns to Louisville Nov. 8-9 at Eva Bandman Park

Louisville Sports Commission partners with Cadence Sports as event owners and operators

Louisville, Ky. – July 15, 2014 – The Louisville Sports Commission announced today that it has partnered with Cadence Sports, an Austin, Texas-based full service sports management company, to take over as promoters, owners and operators of the eighth annual Derby City Cup (DCC) cyclocross event. The DCC will be held Nov. 8-9 at Eva Bandman Park, located along the waterfront near downtown Louisville, site of the 2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships and the 2012 UCI Masters Cyclocross World Championships.

Louisville, Ky. – July 9, 2014 – The Louisville Sports Commission today announced that the Galt House Hotel has been named the official headquarters hotel for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon.

“Our Urban Bourbon Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Galt House Hotel’s front door,” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “So, it made perfect sense to partner with the Galt House and allow our out-of-town runners to experience some of Louisville’s gracious hospitality and Southern style.”

Louisville, KY – July 7, 2014 – The Bhutanese Interstate Cricket Tournament 2014, featuring nine teams from across the United States and one local team, will be held July 11-13 at Cox’s Park near downtown Louisville. The three-day event will be a knockout format, where winning teams move on to the next round and losing teams are eliminated.

Urban Bourbon Half Marathon Medal Unveiled

Louisville, Ky. – June 27, 2014 The Louisville Sports Commission today unveiled the medal for its Urban Bourbon Half Marathon. The participant medal features a replica of a bottle of Evan Williams, one of the world’s top selling bourbons.

“We wanted to fully embrace all things bourbon in our half marathon, and the medal is just one of the many experiential features this race will offer. To our knowledge, this is the first time that a half marathon medal has been an exact replica of a bourbon bottle,” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “We developed a great partnership with Heaven Hill at last year’s race, and it made perfect sense to continue the relationship this year. Especially since our race finishes right in front of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.”

Tickets for USA Gymnastics Championships go on sale today

INDIANAPOLIS, June 19, 2014 – Tickets for the 2014 USA Gymnastics Championships, the national championships for acrobatic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline/tumbling, go on sale on today at 10 a.m. ET.  Scheduled for July 15-19, the five-day event, held at both the Kentucky International Convention Center and the KFC Yum! Center, features competition on the junior and senior elite and Junior Olympic levels for each discipline. The finals for the majority of the senior elite events are set for Saturday, June 19, at the KFC Yum! Center, beginning at 6 p.m.
