Defensive Back, Running Back and Wide Receivers Earn Paul Hornung Honor Roll

Louisville, KY – Monday, September 21, 2015 – Three offensive skill players and one defensive back combined for almost 800 all-purpose yards and scored TDs three different ways – receiving, punt return and passing – to earn the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll exemplifying their versatility on the field. Wide receivers Jakeen Grant (Texas Tech), Ryan Switzer (North Carolina) and running back Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) are newcomers to the Honor Roll, while defensive back William Likely (Maryland) made the list for the second time this season. All three played big roles in their teams’ victories over the weekend.

Honor Roll Selections Combine for Six TDs, Nearly 1,000 All-Purpose Yards

Louisville, KY – Monday, September 14, 2015 – Three offensive skill players and one defensive back combined for 999 all-purpose yards and scored TDs three different ways – rushing, punt return and kickoff return – to earn the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll exemplifying their versatility on the field.

The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is awarded annually to the most versatile player in major college football. The winner and his family will be honored on February 25, 2016, at a banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville, KY.

Three on Defense and One on Offense Headline First Honor Roll of the Season

Louisville, KY – Tuesday, September 8, 2015 – For the first time in the six-year history of the Paul Hornung Award, three defensive players have been named to the Award’s Weekly Honor Roll, and a multi-position offensive performer from the defending national champions joined the trio.  LB Myles Jack (UCLA) and DT Robert Nyemdiche (Ole Miss) scored on offense; DB William Lucky (Maryland) scored on a punt return; and QB / HB Braxton Miller (Ohio State) scored rushing and receiving during the opening weekend of the 2015 college football season.

Jerry Kramer, Former NFL Player, Author and Sports Commentator to Speak at Paul Hornung Award Banquet

Kramer best remembered for his 11-year NFL career with the Green Bay Packers

January 28, 2015 – Louisville, Ky. – Jerry Kramer, author, sports commentator and all-pro right guard who anchored the offensive line for the Green Bay Packers championship teams of the 1960s, will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual Paul Hornung Award Banquet, presented by KentuckyOne Health on Feb. 25, 2015, at the Galt House Hotel. Kramer is best remembered for his 11-year NFL career with the Green Bay Packers as an offensive lineman and his signature book, “Instant Replay”.

Paul Hornung Award Banquet Rescheduled to February 25, 2015

January 22, 2015 – Louisville, Ky. – The Louisville Sports Commission announced today that it has rescheduled the Paul Hornung Award Banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health to Feb 25, 2015. The banquet will be held at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.

The banquet had been scheduled for Jan. 27.

University of Washington’s Shaq Thompson, a gifted athlete who played linebacker, running back, safety and special teams this season, was named winner of the fifth annual Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse. The Louisville Sports Commission and Paul Hornung present the Award to the most versatile player in major college football.
